This year, the stamps issued by the postal administrations that are members of SEPAC (Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation) will feature "animals" as their joint theme. Gull is chosen as Monaco stamp, a very common marine bird in this small country. The species depicted on the stamp is the Yellow-legged Gull which is characteristic of the Mediterranean.

Above is the maxicard shown the gulls waiting at pier, once the fishing boats come back, they can fly to see what they can eat as fast as they can, this shot is normally to be found in Southern Europe.

Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO) is a protection of nature association in France. In April of this year, La Poste, the post of France was issued a souvenir sheet to celebrate the centenary of the association. As Monaco is a neighbourhood with France and their closely relationship, the association also includes the area of Monaco. In September, the post office issued a stamp for same event.

Woodchat Shrike is a migratory bird of southern Europe and Middle-East area. In winter it will migrate to sub-Sahara area and southern Yemen.

Who sent me this interesting mail ? A normal mail with a stamp costs 5 Euro ! Actually the registered mail from Monaco just 5,82 Euro when the time of essay writing.

Thanks David of his mail and greetings, the stamp really hard to find especially in postal used, so I can completed all my latest Monaco bird issues. Crested Tit is a resident bird in most southern European countries, includes south Portugal and Spain and some North African countries. It is a common bird not endanger in this moment.

Great Tits again

Thanks to David of this attractive cover from Monaco, although I have collect many covers feature Great Tit stamp, it is the one most beautiful beside of the Serbian first day cover. Identically the one sent from Swiss also arranged by David.

Seems I do not need make description again, Great Tit is a common bird to be found in Europe. Mostly it appears on the backyard of resident.

Biodiversity : Foundation of the Prince Albert II of Monaco

To help public and private organisations develop initiatives in the fields of research and studies in area of climate change, water and biodiversity, Prince Albert II of Monaco set up a new foundation on 2008 which supports the implementation of innovative solutions. The members of the board of directors come from different countries and Prince Albert II is one of the member.

Monaco Post Office issued a stamp to commemorate this event, the stamp illustrates two prey of birds Lammergeier and Bonelli's Eagle. Lammergeier widely lives in the area of The Himalayas, Middle East and Corsica, also to be found in Kenya and South Africa. It normally diets bird eggs, wild rabbits or dead animals. It has a habit throw bones or turtle to stone for eat the preys easier.
